Kigen (気元) combines Ki (気) meaning energy and Gen (元) meaning origin or source. Together, it translates as origin of energy or source of spirit, highlighting the dynamic generation and cultivation of life energy through the practice of Aikido.

Aiki Kigen Dojo is where traditional Aikido meets modern life. Founded in the 90s as Aikido Jelgava, our lineage connects to the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, through the teachings of Yasunari Kitaura shihan, his student Vladimir Yusupzhanov sensei and his student Vladimir Artamonov sensei.

At Aiki Kigen Dojo, we develop active Aikido with calm and joyous mind, practicing bare-handed techniques and traditional weapons such as the jo, bokken, and tanto. Our teachings are rooted in the history of martial arts, drawing from Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu, Iai Jutsu, and Kobujutsu.
